Intertek Acquires Brazil-based Toy Testing Laboratory E-TEST
04 mar 2013
Sao Paulo, Brazil – Intertek, the leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has acquired 85% of the share capital of E-TEST Laboratorio de Ensaios e Tecnologia Ltda. (E-TEST), a privately owned testing laboratory serving Brazil’s toy market.
“The acquisition of E-TEST will enable Intertek to serve Brazil’s R$3 billion toy market, while complementing our existing National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO)-accredited toy testing laboratories in Hong Kong and China,” said Jay Gutierrez, Chief Operating Officer, Southern Region. “It also provides Intertek the opportunity to expand our chemical and restricted substances testing capabilities in Brazil, as well as to add testing services for other children’s products categories such as school supplies, party articles, baby bottles and pacifiers.”
Based in Alphaville, Brazil, suburb of Sao Paulo, E-TEST was founded in 2011 and is accredited by INMETRO to conduct toy testing and related services. E-TEST serves Brazil’s heavily regulated toy market by providing testing to ensure toys meet Brazil’s mandatory testing requirements. E-TEST employs 33 product testing experts in its state-of-the-art, 600-square-meter laboratory.
